CARE INSTRUCTIONS

All new shoes should be treated with two liberal coats of waterproofer before wear, to protect the uppers from water, stains and dirt.  Shoes should be resprayed every so often varying with usage.

Frequency of wear
You should not wear the same pair of shoes for two consecutive days. Alternate your footwear to allow the uppers to breathe.  This will extend the life of your shoes.
Leather uppers
Regular use of a suitable shoe cream or wax polish to clean leather uppers will help to protect the leather and reduce creasing. This will not make the shoe waterproof.  Wet shoes should always be left to dry naturally - never by artificial heat (as it causes irrevocable damage).
Nubuck/Suede uppers
Extra care should be taken when cleaning. A suede brush with a nubuck/suede cleamer should remove most stains. Regular use of a protector spray will help guard against staining and water penetrations.  NB: Colour fastness cannot be guaranteed on unlined leather, suede and nubuck.
Synthetic uppers
Shoes that have a synthetic upper do not have the same natural "give" of a leather product. Please keep  this in mind when selecting your size.
Delicate Fabrics and Trims
Beads and sequins will come off if worn in conditions where they are rubbed or scuffed.
Heel tips
Heel tips are a replaceable component, designed to wear down, and should be replaced on a regular basis to prevent damage to the heels. Spare heel tips are included in many of our styles, and are also available at minimum cost from shoe repairers.
Soles
Leather soles are a natural product and are porous in wet conditions.  After a period of time, the sole will wear away (even in normal conditions) making it necessary for the sole to be repaired.  Some soles will also tend to feel quite slippery when first purchase.  Scuffing against an abrasive surface like concrete, or purchasing and applying grip products such as Waproo's Slip Stops will give some extra grip to such soles.
Satins
Some satins may also be protected with our Tana All Protector but if you are uncertain, test a spot that won't be seen first
Cleaning
Clean suede shoes with a suede brush or eraser.  Dry cleaners may be able to help with satin shoe stain removal.  Clean patents with "Patent Shine", "Shuglo", tea tree oil or an eraser.
